… turning new acquaintances into lasting friends in Christ! (Matt. 28:19–20)
Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. – Colossians 4:5
Behave yourselves wisely – living prudently and with discretion – in your relations with those of the outside world (the non-Christians), making the very most of the time and seizing (buying up) the opportunity. (Amp version)
God’s Word admonishes us to greet and welcome the unsaved, bringing these new people into the influence of the “God kind of love” (agape) that’s in you. We are to share our life with others in ways that will create redeeming and lasting relationships. God’s Word further admonishes us that as believers, through the new birth and infilling of the Holy Spirit, we have been equipped for this very purpose of “turning new acquaintances into lasting friends in Christ.”
While we may have events, outreaches and activities to bring us into contact with new people, it is through the personal interaction we have with people that we enjoy the opportunity of helping them become disciples of Jesus Christ. Therefore the various events and activities are not the evangelistic encounter, but rather, it’s the personal interaction in which we communicate the gospel to people that produces disciples, providing evidence of effective evangelism.
…is what we emphasize in this local church. We define it in these statements:
- To teach the uncompromising Word of Faith; spreading the Good News of the kingdom of God and the Salvation that is in Christ Jesus; through media, publications, Christian literature and other means.
- Family is our strength; we are building and restoring healthy relationships in our church family and in our natural families also.
- Children are our future; we are educating and encouraging our children toward salvation, great expectations and Christian discipleship for success.
